The Story of Baron

Founded in 1978, Baron was established with the ambition of creating well-designed bags and accessories made from high-quality leather and canvas. Starting with leather briefcases and weekend bags, the product line soon expanded to include an entire canvas collection with bags and cases for hunting weapons. Since its inception, classic elegance has been the common denominator of all Baron products. Each product combines elegance with the needs of the contemporary businessperson and traveler.

In 2019, Baron merged with Götrich to form a unified enterprise under the name Götrich & Co. All partners remain active in the business, including the Adelswärd family, who have held the title of “baron” since 1783 and manage the Baroniet Adelswärd estate, the only barony in Sweden. Additionally, Cad & the Dandy are active shareholders, playing a crucial role in maintaining industry connections.

The ambition of Götrich & Co is to create the definitive destination for classic elegance in an updated environment with a focus on craftsmanship, style, and quality. Baron continues to be the brand for all our leather and canvas bags and accessories, while Götrich is the brand we use for our ready-to-wear garments, tailoring, and textile accessories.

The combined operations are now located at Humlegårdsgatan 19, featuring a full-scale tailoring workshop in the basement and a retail and customer area on the ground floor.

At Baron, we are dedicated to quality and sustainability in terms of design, material selection, and craftsmanship. Our product development focuses on continuous improvement of existing models and limited introduction of new ones. Our strategy is to concentrate on a few iconic models. For us, product development is not about following short-term trends; instead, we invest heavily in gradually improving existing models.

We work closely with artisans to constantly enhance details and quality. The artisans are also in close contact with our tanneries to ensure the use of the finest vegetable-tanned leather. Our design is classic and consistent in style, while dimensions and details such as shoulder straps, locks, zippers, and inner pockets are continually updated. Every Baron product is handmade by skilled artisans, features contemporary functions, and maintains a timeless style.
